What’s good on Netflix right now?

I made a list for a friend a while back, and as I looked over it I thought “hey, other people might like this too.” It’s not a comprehensive list, by any means, and it won’t suit everybody’s tastes. Basically, as with anything, YMMV.

TV Shows:
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
  • M*A*S*H
  • White Collar
  • Burn Notice
  • Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Wallander (Come for Kenneth Branagh as a lonely Swedish detective; stay for an as-yet-undiscovered Tom Hiddleston)
  • The West Wing (insanely optimistic liberal politics – makes you love being a American. 🙂 )
  • Broadchurch
  • Enchanted April
  • Jane Eyre (the one with Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender)
  • Galaxy Quest
  • Notting Hill
  • His Girl Friday
  • Roman Holiday
  • The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
  • The Quiet Man
  • Driving Miss Daisy
  • Big Night (Stanley Tucci! Food! Mr. Appel recommends it!)
  • I Know That Voice (documentary about voice actors)
  • Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit:
  • The Great Escape
  • Amadeus
  • Rabbit-Proof Fence (I haven’t watched it myself yet, but it got stunning reviews years ago when it came out)
  • Footloose
  • The Chorus (French, recommended by the Foucachons, amazing)
  • Hot Fuzz
  • Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
  • How to Steal a Million
  • The Producers (old version, with Gene Wilder)
  • Sabrina (new one, with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond)
  • Hitch
  • Shall We Dance (with Richard Gere)
  • The Blues Brothers
  • Leap of Faith
  • Moonstruck
